Intended for experienced Marines, the WTI course is an advanced, graduate-level course for select fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and tilt-rotor pilots and enlisted aircrew from the Marine Corps aviation n October 25, 2015, Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI), WTI 1-16 concluded at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma. Facilitated by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) since 1978, this seven-week course provides advanced tactical aviation training designed to produce weapons and tactics instructors. Over the course of 7 weeks (3 weeks of academics and 4 weeks of flight phase), WTI basically teaches Marine Corps aviators how to deploy their aircraft weapons systems in a total threat environment. In addition, it involves all aspects of Marine Corps aviation and air assets of various other branches of service.
